FAQ
Mobile Mechanic questions, answered.
Straight answers for Richmond homes and businesses. Can't see yours? Ask us.
Is Richmond Mobile Mechanic a mobile auto repair company?
No. Richmond Mobile Mechanic publishes local guidance and passes enquiries to independent mobile auto repair providers. The provider does the work, sets the price and deals with you directly. Read the full explanation on the referral disclosure page.
How does a referral work?
Call the number at the top of the page, send the form or email us with the vehicle, the problem and your Richmond neighbourhood. We pass the enquiry to an independent provider where one is available for your area, and they contact you directly with a quote.
Who sets the price for the repair?
The provider does. We do not set prices or take part in the work. Ask for a written quote that lists parts and labour before you agree.
Do I have to pay anything to send an enquiry?
No. Enquiries are not charged to you by this site. Any cost for the repair is between you and the provider, so confirm fees before work starts.
What happens if a repair cannot be done at my home?
Some jobs need a lift, special tools or a part that cannot be handled on site. A reputable provider says so early and explains your options, which may include a shop or a tow.
Should I ask a mobile mechanic for certification in BC?
It is reasonable to ask. Certification is voluntary in BC for automotive service technicians, so not every mechanic holds it. SkilledTradesBC issues the certificate, and Red Seal is the interprovincial endorsement. Ask the provider what they hold.
Can work be done in a strata or condo parkade?
Sometimes. Scans, inspections and battery swaps need little space, but many stratas restrict fluids and jacks. Check with your strata manager and tell the provider before booking.
How are used oil and old batteries handled?
A reputable provider takes them away for recycling. In BC, used oil and batteries generally go through stewardship or recycling programs. Ask the provider where yours will go.
What about work in heavy rain?
Richmond's wettest month is November, and rain affects outdoor work. Ask the provider about rescheduling, or whether a garage or covered stall would help.
Do mobile providers cover hybrids and EVs?
Some do, some do not. Hybrids and EVs have special systems and safety needs. Tell us the make and model in your enquiry so we can look for a suitable provider.
What payment methods do providers take?
That depends on the provider. Ask about accepted payment types and whether you get a written quote and receipt before work begins.
Can I contact you by phone?
Yes. Call the number at the top of the page, send the enquiry form or email hello@richmondmobilemechanic.ca. If you are in an unsafe spot on the road, call a tow or emergency services directly.
